Congrats (Again) Hawaii Warriors! Suger Bowl Bound!!

Whew, I was a bit worried during the first quarter of the Warriors game with the Huskies. I was afraid that the old "let down" syndrome set in after they defeated Boise State. It happened to Fresno in 2005, and it looked like it would happen to Hawaii in 2007. Fortunately, the players dug down deep and got it done.

So, as of right now, it looks like it will be Hawaii vs. Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. As far as Boise State going bowling, the team has requested a return to the islands (Hawaii Bowl), where I'm sure they want to get the bitter taste out of their mouths. Their opponent would be East Carolina of Conference USA, a team that might be a lot better than their record indicates.

Still possible - the Las Vegas Bowl vs. ranked BYU, and the Humanitarian Bowl vs. Georgia Tech or Maryland. We will know for sure this evening. But, at this point, it looks 99% certain it's the Hawaii Bowl.

So, is that the best bowl for BSU to play in? Hard to say. The best, of course, would be a BCS bowl, but that's out of the picture. Next best, I think, would be a BCS team away from home, like the Independence bowl. A ranked BYU away from home would be good too. Personally, I don't think playing a 6-6 BCS team at home in the H-Bowl is any better, as far as perceptions go, than playing a non-AQ (mid-major) team on the road.

Selfishly, as a die-hard season ticket holder, I would like to see the team play at home again. But, it's NOT up to me - it should be up to the team. And, I can sympathize with them. They would like to take another trip, and I'm sure they badly want to win in Hawaii. It would not erase the loss to Hawaii, but it would help get rifd ot that bitter taste.
