Well, after a lengthy hiatus, I am reposting to this blog. (Actually, I had completely forgotten this blog - I decided to give Blogger another try, and the New "Beta" Blogger seemed so nice, I'm back with it).
Note - If you read anything in this journal prior to this post date you are going back a year or two. Those posts are neither current nor relevant.
Here's a few quick hits to get started again.
Coach Pete is on the watch-list for the Bear Bryant award for coaching excellence again this year (niiiice!). And why not? His team has lost a total of one game in two years - and this is only his second year.
Could this game (v. Utah State) be a trap game? Personally, I was worried more about San Jose last week. They did give Hawaii all it could handle (albeit at home), and they are definitely one of the harder hitting teams in the WAC. Utah State, on the other hand, has little to brag about regarding their defense, but their offense has shown signs at times of being fairly potent - streaky, but potent. BSU gives up 24 points to the Aggies. I believe they will cover.
Who would have believed you could hear a pin drop smack dab in the middle of 30,000 noisy football fans. But, that's exactly what happened during the San Jose State game. Big number 99 for the San Jose Spartans was lying on the turf after a play was finished. He wasn't moving. As the minutes passed, and trainers from both teams huddled over him, it got quieter and quieter. I have never heard a more silent stadium in my life.
Fortunately, for everyone, Justin was declared OK after cat scans and MRIs at the hospital. The diagnosis was a spinal cord concussion, and there is a 50-50 chance he can play again this season. Kudos to the BSU fans whoe treated him with kindness both during the ordeal on the field and later after he was released from the hospital.
Well, that's it for right now. I promise to be more consistent.
(Edited - P.S. - I forgot to mention - CFN and Fox still project BSU in the Rose Bowl)

Welcome baaaack!
Nice to have your forum back to talk about the ever-amazing Broncos. It was very funny reading your posts from the '04 (?) season.
I personally have given up doubting the Broncos. Gone are the days (in my mind) of the Broncos being a streaky team, winning only by seemingly shear chance and luck. The BSU coaching staff and the players themselves have bought into this system which has them "respecting all, fearing none." BSU walks away in this one 56-7, write it down (oh, yeah I guess I just did).
Likewise, BSU handles Idaho handily as the freshman shine on Senior Day.
Lastly, I think we will see an utter shoot-out on the island, but once again the coach's will out scheme H's staff and our player will simply out-execute the H players.
Then it comes to the tricky BCS thing. Given BSU's success last year, if they win out, they will finish 12th and go to the Sugar Bowl, because they have the last pick of the at-large teams. I know that the Rose has geographic ties, blah, blah, blah... truth is the great granddaddy of them all will want more of a "marquee" match-up, particularily if Oregon is not in the championship game.
My thoughts... let me know what you think!?!
Thanks for the comment.
Streaky? Not at all, especially considering this year with all of the fluke upsets we've seen. If anything, the Broncos are playing just about the most consistent football in the country right now.
The next two games should be yawners. Like I posted, I was worried most about the Spartans. Utah State - well, they have been the epitome of inconsistency. And what Bronco player is not going to be super-hyped for the Idaho game?
Actually, I'm not yet sold on getting into the BCS. It's Hawaii's fault because of their strength of schedule. After the Broncos beat them on the islands, the voters will just see it as Hawaii being exposed as a mediocre team, making it that much harder for us to get to that coveted #12 position.
I'm not so sure even Hawaii can make it in even if they do the unthinkable and actually win out.
I haven't given up hope though. Last year a number of the sports talking heads said we'd never make it, even undefeated. And we all know what happened after that :)
